Precautions For Acid Reflux In Adults



Acid reflux is scientifically known as Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). Basically, it is a disease caused by the abnormal reflux if gastric contents into the esophagus resulting to chronic symptoms or mucosal damage. Acid reflux is caused by temporary alterations in the lining that segregate the esophagus and the stomach. Ineffectiveness if the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) or a temporary relaxation of LES connected with a hiatal hernia is some common causes for acid reflux disease. And this may also be the cause of backflow of the gastric juices to the pharynx or mouth, which taste acidic.

PRECAUTIONS FOR ADULTS: The people who are suffering from acid reflux disease they should be more careful regarding their health. Because a small carelessness may lead to a big hazard. There are some cardinal precautions, which adults should follow in lieu to avoid acid reflux, they are as following:

1. Adults should avoid eating high, spicy and oily meals. Generally, when people eat they eat big morsel which is not good for the digest sake. Because it becomes difficult to chew it properly.

2. After having their meal people should not lie down horizontally, because it gives pressure to the stomach, which is not good for the digestion.

3. Avoid using extra pillows for sleep. And wear loose clothes before sleeping.

4. Adults should keep off their self’s from smoking, because it helps creating acidity in stomach as well as it is not good for the healthy life.

5. Avoid taking alcohol, use of alcohol may damage or emasculate digestive system. And the people who are already suffering from acid reflux for them alcohol may cause serious problem.

6. Make a proper eating schedule, it should not be sporadic. There should be a difference around 4 to 5 hours in breakfast, lunch and dinner.

CONCLUSION: The best thing for adults to keep themselves away from acid reflux disease is to make a proper planning of diets. Eat only light foods such as without much oil, salt and spicy. Always try to have small diets. Avoid consuming alcohol and cigarette. And to take proper sleep after having their dinner.
