Hyperacidity and Acid reflux



Hyperacidity and acid reflux are commonly associated terms. The reason being so is that the hyperacidity is a condition where hyper secretion of acid takes place in the stomach. This acid may revert backs to the elementary canal causing heartburns. Acidity and hyperacidity should not be confused as hyperacidity in the truer sense can cause very serious problems. Acidity is a general term and can be handled with. Hyperacidity can cause reflux problems as the pressure in the stomach is increased which can release the acid in to the food canal by opening of the LES valve. So broadly, hyper acidic person is always susceptible to acid reflux.

Causes of hyperacidity:

Though hyperacidity can have biological causes but there are certain intakes that can cause hyperacidity. They are:

1. Heavy smoking can cause hyperacidity to the smoker. Because of the nicotine that is going in the body, it produces excess acid.
2. Eating spicy and seasoned foods that contain chilly or sour ingredients or both.
3. Prolonged ingestion of alcohol release acids in the stomach in large amount.
4. Stress is an important factor for causing hyperacidity.
5. Ingestion of aspirin has been the cause for acidity in many cases.

General symptoms of hyperacidity:

Since hyperacidity is one of the important factor for causing acid reflux its symptoms must be taken care of. The general symptoms are:
1. Steady abdominal pain in the upper part
2. Nausea and vomiting and desire to eat more in 2 to 3 days.
3. Heartburn along with sour belching
4. A sense of bloating
5. Burping and belching
6. Vomiting of blood or blood in stool.

Hyperacidity management that causes acid reflux:

Acid reflux along with hyperacidity can cause severe discomforts to the patient hence, the person should keep a vigil over the thing that produce hyperacidity. The person should have abstinence from smoking in every form. He should avoid eating fatty foods, alcohol and spicy food. The bed should be kept in an elevated position by about 15 cms or the person should use wedge pillow. He should stop bending at the waist, especially, after the meals. Meals should be taken in small amount with less duration. Weight problems increase hyperacidity hence, weight loss exercise should be planned. This all measures can reduce hyperacidity.
